The impact of sinus surgery in the era of highly effective modulator therapy

A majority of people living with cystic fibrosis have sinus problems, such as longstanding sinus disease. Sinus disease can be severe and many will consider and undergo sinus surgery. This study hopes to learn more about treatments for sinus disease including sinus surgery.

We are looking for individuals who are considering sinus surgery. You can participate if you choose to have sinus surgery or choose not to have sinus surgery. This study does not determine which treatment you will receive; that is for you and your doctor to decide. This observational study is supported by the CF Foundation and compensation for study visits is provided.

Qualifications include:

  • 18 years or older
  • Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and chronic rhino sinusitis (longstanding sinus disease)
  • Be considering sinus surgery as an option for sinus disease. Both people who consider sinus surgery and people who choose not to have sinus surgery can participate.

Study Participation involves:

  • Five visits over 12 months
  • Questionnaires and surveys about your CF and sinus disease
  • In-person study visits not necessarily required for participation; study can be conducted remotely while you are home if you have home spirometry (the device to test exhalation and lung function).

Please call (310) 794-2514 or email to learn more. In order to protect your privacy, please do not include any personal health information, if you choose to email us.
